The weather forecast predicted rain in Charleston, SC today so Cordell thought it would be better to head on south to Savannah. In fact, it was misting a little when we left Oak Island and we did drive through some rain.
We passed through lots of rural areas and some small towns. We saw fields where it looked as if pieces of cotton were left all over the ground. Also saw many trees with mistletoe in their tops. We stopped in the town of Turbeville, SC to look at murals painted on the sides of buildings which depict their local history.
There were no places to eat when we decided we were hungry. We noticed a small place that advertised home cooking. Its appearance did not impress us, but there were cars parked around it and we knew we needed to eat before it got much later. It is named "Chat 'N Chew Restaurant. I think we were the only people there who are not locals. Cordell had some problems understanding the waitress with her southern accent! I translated for him. You can take the girl out of the south, but you can't take the south out of the girl!
When we crossed into Georgia, we stopped at a Visitor's Center and picked up maps and brochures. It was 76 degrees here and they are expecting the same temperature tomorrow. I think we enjoy this weather more knowing that it has been snowing in Maryland! It took us 5 days to get out of the State of North Carolina.
Since Cordell's retirement and especially while we have been on this trip, we often do not know what time it is and sometimes we're not sure what day it is. One time today we didn't know what State we were in.
Chat n' Chew! I like that! Not knowing the day the time or the state just proves what a GREAT time you're having! WHO CARES about that stuff!? Well... set an alarm to tell you when it's Sunday! Ya don't wanna miss church! ;)
